Collections

The donation in the early 1980s of a grinding stone to the Koorie Heritage Trust prompted the idea of creating a Keeping Place to preserve, protect and promote the Koorie cultural heritage of Victoria.

At the heart of the Trust are our collections of artworks and artefacts, photographs, oral history recordings and reference library. Our collections are unique because we focus solely on representing the Koorie Aboriginal culture of South-Eastern Australia.

We protect and preserve our collection for future generations through museum-standard storage, documentation and conservation practices. We also use the collection to promote Koorie Aboriginal culture through an active exhibition program.

Donating an artwork to the KHT

At the KHT, we accept donations of artworks to our collections that represent the Koorie Aboriginal culture of South-Eastern Australia. However, we only accept donations that meet our collecting criteria at the time, and legal title is confirmed. If you wish to donate an artwork, please contact our Curatorial Manager by email.

Valuations

We do not provide object valuations, estimates or authentication of artworks in your collection.
